About a week and a half ago I had a short stint in the Big Apple to help my best friend find the perfect wedding dress. Somewhere in between getting lost in a sea of white satin and speed walking through the streets of Brooklyn to avoid boys yelling at me about how they got their basketball to match my hair, I managed to snap a few street style photos.

Adjusting my sartorial eye for New York City was more challenging than I had expected, and I now have even MORE respect for New York street style pioneers like Bill Cunningham and Scott Schuman. Trying to process the amount of people that would pass by me in five seconds, sift through all the “I ♥ NY” shirts and other ridiculous tourist paraphernalia, and actually snap photos of stylish people before they disappeared into a crowd or submerged into a subway entrance was like a game.

Because of the fast-paced nature of the city and my trip, I didn’t encounter and photograph as many fashionable folks as I had hoped I would. I am, however, making another trip to this addictive city later this summer that will be entirely dedicated to photographing street style, and you better believe I’ll be ready! Maybe next time I’ll pack this bracelet one of my Twitter followers shared with me so riding the subway by myself won’t make me want to cry.
