Event Spotlight:  Doo-Wop Fashion Bash at Touch of Sass

The ’50s and ’60s are by far my favorite fashion decade - flipped out hair, pompadours, high-waisted skirts stuffed with crinoline, bobby socks, leather jackets, suspenders… I could go on and on!

I digress - the Doo-Wop Fashion Bash presented by Tess Dress and Touch of Sass definitely did not disappoint for vintage junkies like myself.  I got there too late to receive a swag bag (only for the first 100 guests) or to enjoy a free burger from Terra Burger and cocktails from Dolce Vida Tequila and Paula’s Texas Orange Liqueur, but I did manage to snag some pie from Tootie Pie Company before they ran out!  There apple pie was delish!

I had never been to Touch of Sass before this event, and if you haven’t either, plan a trip immediately!  The boutique is filled with incredibly chic jewelry pieces and adorable clutches.  What kept me most enthralled though were the racks of dresses on display from Tess Dress.  All of their dresses are inspired by looks from the ’50s/’60s era, but they are still modern and incredibly wearable.  One in particular stole my heart: this little number inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy dress worn in the classic ’50s romantic comedy Sabrina.  So simple, yet so incredibly refined!

Keeping with the doo-wop theme, there was also an antique Coca-Cola machine, a jukebox playing classic tunes from the era, and the lovely Ava Arenela singing jazz music.  An event like this would not be complete, of course, without a themed photo booth set up by the lovely and talented Devaki Knowles of Fun Loving Photos.  All in all - this bash was a blast!

Vote for Tess Dress and Touch of Sass for Best Designer and Best Boutique for the 2011 Austin Fashion Awards here.  Voting closes at 10 PM on Friday!
